A long time ago my fencing coach told me that it's important to make goals. Goals define you and give you a point of reference for achievement. I'm not sure what my response was back then, probably along the lines of "uh-huh" or "kay". Or something equally profound and suitable. But since I've wasted my first year at university I've decided it's important to set goals.
So this is it.
Goal time. El goalo uno.
I want to go to America. But I don't want to just go. I want to experience American College Life. ACL is to me, the means through which I will pursue happiness. My happiness hinges on my access to ACL.
So my goal: To gain access to and participate to the best of my ability and capacity for enjoyment; ACL.
To achieve this goal I will require better grades. So I have set a number of sub-goals to facilitate the achievement of grades good enough to qualify for exchange and entrance into an American University. Movies such as How High (2001) have shown me that wacky hi-jinks can occur at places such as Harvard. However, Vermont, NYU, MIT and Berkeley seem attractive choices. Berkeley girls appear to be amply endowed in all the right places. This is a plus. They also do not seem particularly bright. This is another plus. Black turtlenecks a minus. Further consideration is needed.
In order to get those grades I will require a significant grade improvement. Thus sub-goal 1a is to attend all my lectures, and sub-goal 1b is to hand in all required assessments. Sub-goal 1c to participate fully in tutorials in line with sub-goal 1c i: doing all of the required readings at least once by the night prior to the tutorial.
Starvation has been a common theme for much of highschool and (so far) university life. Hunger is a detriment to study, therefore it must be eliminated. In order to facilitate concentration and the attainment of the Primary Directive and ACL I have set sub-goal 2a which is to eat regularly, accompanied by sub-goals 2a i to consume a hearty yet nutritious breakfast and sub-goal 2b to procure steady employment which will provide funds for sustenance. Sub-goal 2c is a non-core goal which includes learning to cook... well.
My journey thus far towards ACL has been hampered by factors such as social considerations and USAS (Use of Study Affecting Substances). Therefore I have set sub-goals 3a through 3d which are, in order: Re-organisation of social circle to remove prominent and daily USASers (3a), a commitment of avoidance of social activities which will adversely affect marks, and therefore the Prime Directive (3b), personal reduction of USAS and related activities (3c) and finally; the implementation of the GoP (or 'Grades over Pussy') principle (3d).
Therefore the path to ACL is laid out as follows:
1a.) Attend all lectures
b.) Hand in all required assessments. On time.
c.) Attend and participate in tutorials.
i.) Do all readings in a timely manner.
2a.) Eat regularly.
i.) Including a nutritious and filling breakfast, caffeine optional but encouraged.
b.) Procure steady better payed employment.
i.) Employment must not be allowed to adversely affect Prime Directive.
c.) Learn2cook
3.a) Stop hanging out with drugfucked people.
b.) Attend less parties, and only if they do not conflict with Prime Directive or sub-goals 1b and 1c.
c.) Do less drugs.
d.) Chase less hos.
Prime Directive: Study in Amerika.
Depends on what you want me to recommend them for. I started with Schopenhauer, but that isn't recommended. Then I... read more
